About The Journal

The Journal of Communication and Journalism Research (CJR-ISSN: 2348-5663) is a refereed half yearly journal. Launched in 2012, its primary focus is on themes, theories and applied practical studies in mass media and communication. An open access journal with a multidisciplinary approach it challenges the traditional boundaries of the discipline by encouraging articles that question conventional frameworks and surpass domain- specific limitations. It offers a platform for creative, new and experimental forms of research.


Vision

Our vision at the Journal of Communication and Journalism Research is to be a leading platform for cutting-edge research in communication and journalism. We aim to publish high-quality, innovative studies that address critical issues, explore emerging trends, and advance theory and practice in these fields.


Mission

The mission is to provide a multidisciplinary forum for researchers, scholars, and practitioners to share insights and findings in communication and journalism. The journal promotes rigorous methodologies, diverse perspectives, and the exchange of ideas across different areas of study.

Submission Guidelines

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check their submission's compliance with all of the following items.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point Garamond font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The list of references are placed after the endnotes, and arranged in the alphabetical order, on the basis of surnames. Only the works cited or referred to in the main text should be cited under the references. In text citation and references adhere to the seventh edition of Publication Manual of American Psychological Association (APA).

Author Guidelines

  1. The manuscript should be between 3000 to 6,000 words, neatly typed in MS Word, in single space, 12 point Garamond font.
  2. The manuscript should carry an abstract of about 150-200 words with not more than eight keywords. Both the abstract and keywords are mandatory
  3. The original research articles should have the following format: 1) Title page with title, author name and affiliation 2) Abstract & Keywords 3) Research article in a structured format. 
  4. Endnotes: All notes should be indicated by serial numbers in the text and the detailed reference should be given as endnotes at the end of the document, following the corresponding numbers before the references and explanation. Endnotes are optional.
  5. References: The list of references should be placed after the endnotes, and arranged in the alphabetical order, on the basis of surnames. Only the works cited or referred to in the main text should be cited under the references. In text citation and references should adhere to the seventh edition of Publication Manual of American Psychological Association (APA).
  6. British English spelling and grammar is to be used throughout manuscript
  7. Every contribution should be accompanied by a declaration that the article is original and has not been published nor submitted elsewhere for publication
  8. Authors need to ensure that all the authors are represented accurately and clear references are given to work done by others.
  9. Use of any third party material is to be done after obtaining the written permission from the respective copyright holders. The permission documents should be submitted along with the research work submitted for publication 
  10. Every accepted article will be copy-edited. The Editorial Board reserves the right to make necessary revisions to the text.
  11. Book Reviews shall be of around 1000 words, detailing relevant facts about the book. 
  12. All submitted articles will be peer reviewed. Acceptance of articles is subject to recommendation by the reviewers.

 Plagiarism

  1. All the submitted articles will be checked for similarity and originality. Maximum similarity allowed is 15 percent.
  2. Whenever a copyrighted material is used, contributors/authors should accurately reproduce, and obtain written permission from the copyright holders, and the same should be acknowledged in the article.
  3. Proper citation should be given in the manuscript for Images/Figures and Tables reproduced from any other sources.
  4. Authors are to submit plagiarism report along with the research article. 

 

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. 


Ethical Guidelines

The ethical guidelines seek to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in research and publication. Authors, reviewers, and the editorial team must adhere to these principles to maintain high ethical standards in scholarly communication.

  • Ensure originality and proper attribution. No plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Use proper citation and attribution.
  • Accurately represent all significant contributors as authors. Communicate and agree on any changes to authorship.
  • Conduct research with integrity. Provide transparent methodologies, data, and analysis for reproducibility. No data manipulation or fabrication.
  • Obtain informed consent from research participants. Protect their rights, privacy, and confidentiality. Handle personal information securely and in line with privacy laws.
  • Ensure independent and impartial review and publication. Base editorial decisions on quality, relevance, and rigor, regardless of authors' backgrounds.
  • Disclose conflicts of interest that could compromise objectivity. Recuse from review if personal or professional relationships influence judgment.

Peer Review Policy

Reviewing Process: 

  • Manuscripts will be assigned to reviewers based on their expertise in the relevant field
  • The review process is double-blind and reviewers are expected to provide constructive feedback, evaluate the research rigorously, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Reviews should be submitted within the specified timeframe to ensure timely publication

 

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Review manuscripts objectively, keeping in mind the importance of scientific integrity and ethical considerations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the content of the manuscripts you review.
  • Evaluate the manuscript's originality, methodology, clarity, significance, and overall quality.
  • Provide clear, constructive, and unbiased feedback to help authors improve their work.
  • Indicate whether the manuscript meets the journal's standards and if it should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
  • Identify any potential conflicts of interest that may influence your review and promptly notify the editor.

 

Review Guidelines

  • Consider the structure, organization, and coherence of the manuscript.
  • Evaluate the research design, methodology, and data analysis techniques employed.
  • Assess the relevance and significance of the research question addressed.
  • Determine the validity and reliability of the findings, including the appropriateness of statistical analyses.
  • Evaluate the quality and comprehensibility of the writing, including grammar, clarity, and readability.
  • Assess the accuracy and adequacy of citations, references, and supporting materials.
  • Identify any ethical concerns, such as plagiarism or ethical treatment of human or animal subjects. 
  • Assess the innovative and creative approaches in the study. 

Open Access Policy

The journal is committed to the principles of open access to scholarly research. All articles published in the journal are freely available to the public immediately upon publication. There is no subscription fee or paywall.  The journal retains the copyright of respective authors.
